Raza Hassan

On May 4, 2022, the Tribunal of Genova ordered a pre-trial detention for Raza Hassan, born on July 2, 1990, accused of international terrorist association according to art. 270 bis comma 2 c.p. of the Italian Criminal Code.
The evidence collected by the Italian authorities leaves no doubt about Hassan’s involvement and association with Gabar, further corroborated by his proximity to and friendship with Tahir Yaseen, the propaganda materials shared on his social media profiles, and thus his ideological stance. Videos that attest Hassan’s violent nature and ideological beliefs date back to September 2020, where Hassan was seen alongside other Gabar members such as Iqbal Nazar, Babar Ali, and Tahir Yaseen and they were wielding various weapons. He also appeared in the video shot in Le Havre alongside Yaseen, Babar Ali, and Akram Noman a few days prior to the Paris attack. Moreover, during November 2020, Hassan was with Yaseen, Ali Mohsin and Raza Hassan in Italy trying to reach the French border.
In late November 2020, Hassan was stopped at the border between France and Spain, Yaseen was with him but he managed to escape while Hassan was arrested. From the documents released by the Tribunal of Genova, Hassan appeared to have been detained in Barcelona in 2021 where he served a sentence of 20 months for crimes against public health and safety.
Once arrested, Hassan was placed under pre-trial detention by the order of the Tribunal of Genova. He asked for a shortened proceeding and was put on trial on July 12 and 13, 2023 while the judge’s ruling was scheduled for September 18, 2023. In October 2023, he was sentenced for conspiracy to commit terrorism to four years and six months.
