Laura Sabrina Martucci
Laura Sabrina Martucci is a professor at the University of Bari “Aldo Moro”, an expert in international terrorism, jihadist radicalization, and suprematist radicalization. She has developed de-radicalization programs based on gender analysis for different age groups, which use rehabilitation techniques and social reintegration to encourage individuals to disengage from violent ideologies.
Her research focuses particularly on the protection and violation of rights, as well as on religion, conversion, and religious affiliation. She also studies brainwashing techniques and the distorted use of religion for violent, terrorist, subversive, and criminal purposes. She has extensive knowledge of the legal and geopolitical systems that govern relations between States and religions, and she is an expert on women, peace, and security in the MENA region.
At the University of Bari, she coordinates the Master’s Degree Program in terrorism, the prevention of subversive radicalization, security, and cybersecurity. She is also the University Chancellor’s contact person for relations with the National Anti-Mafia and Anti-Terrorism Directorate. Furthermore, she has worked for the Italian Prime Minister’s Office and the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Bari, and was a member of an Italian delegation to the London Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command at New Scotland Yard.
