Michael Sam Teekaye Jr. Sentenced to 15 years in prison for attempting to provide material support to IS
U.S. District Judge Adam B. Abelson sentenced Michael Sam Teekaye Jr., 22 from Maryland, to 15 years in prison followed by lifetime supervised release, for attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization. Teekaye revealed his plan to join and fight for ISIS to an undercover officer (UCO).

OFAC sanctioned over 100 ISIS-K crypto addresses that moved over $1.4 million
U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) added 134 crypto wallet addresses to its ISIS-Khorasan (ISIS-K) sanctions entry on Wednesday, including 131 Tron addresses and 3 Monero addresses. The TRON wallets received more than $1.4 million since 2023 and sent more than $880,000, according to Chainalysis. Tether froze balances on all 131 Tron addresses.
Chainalysis said it identified historical donation addresses tied to the group on the Tron, Monero and Bitcoin networks.
The freeze reinforces the role of centralized stablecoin issuers in sanctions enforcement. Tether froze more than $182 million in USDT across five Tron wallets in January under its sanctions compliance policy.

Catherine Beth Washburn was arrested and charged with providing material support to the Palestine Islamic Jihad (PIJ), also known as the Al-Quds Brigades
The Justice Department announced that Catherine Beth Washburn, 37, of Irondequoit, New York, was arrested and charged by criminal complaint with attempting to provide material support and resources, namely currency, to designated Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) the Palestine Islamic Jihad (PIJ) also known as Al-Quds Brigades.
According to the criminal complaint, Washburn is a leader of the Direct Action Movement for Palestinian Liberation (DAMPL), an extremist organization formed in the aftermath of the terrorist attack on Israel by Hamas on October 7, 2023.
Washburn repeatedly voiced support for violence against Israeli civilians and attempted to provide material support to the Palestine Islamic Jihad by sending cryptocurrency to an individual who claimed to participate in its attacks.
In February and March 2026, the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) executed search warrants and recovered electronic messages between Washburn and an individual who identified as a PIJ fighter in Gaza and claimed to have engaged in attacks with PIJ against Israel. In one of the messages, Washburn stated, “[i]f I lived in Gaza, I would fight alongside the resistance.” Washburn praised his bravery and stated, “I wish every day were October 7th.” Washburn further stated in that message that the individual was not the first fighter she had met, that she hated Jews “very much,” and that she wished Israel “would disappear.” In other messages, Washburn and the individual discussed purported PIJ attacks on Israel, weapons, and ammunition. In one message, Washburn stated, “I feel excited every time I see news of the killing of an occupation soldier.”

OFAC designated three individuals and six entities across Europe, the Middle East, and West Africa for facilitating financial transactions on behalf of the Islamic State
The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated three individuals and six entities across Europe, the Middle East, and West Africa for facilitating financial transactions on behalf of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
Miloud Abderrahmane (Abderrahmane), based in France, Abdelhakim Boukich (Boukich), based in Syria, and Mohamad Alhmidan (Alhmidan), previously designated by OFAC in March 2016, are three such individuals that have facilitated transactions for ISIS. Abderrahmane, a French-national, has conducted transactions with known ISIS-affiliates, including some who were based in Syria. He has also provided instructional and manufacturing information on explosives to ISIS supporters.
Boukich, formerly a Dutch national and an extremist financial facilitator, controls and directs Bitcoin Xchange, a Syria-based money service business (MSB). Bitcoin Xchange was established in late 2020 by Boukich and his Syria-based associates. Boukich and Bitcoin Xchange have transferred money on behalf of ISIS associates originating from multiple countries, including Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands, South Africa, and the United States.
Alhmidan, an individual sanctioned in 2016 for facilitating logistical and financial support for ISIS, as well as helping support foreign terrorist fighters, also owns and controls Spider Gayrimenkul Ve Genel Ticaret Limited Sirketi (Spider), a Turkiye-based MSB. Alkaram Danismanlik Gayrimenkul Ic Ve Dis Genel Ticaret Limited Sirketi (Alkaram), also a Turkiye-based MSB, further does business as, and operates on behalf of Spider. Originating as a hawala that operated in Syria, Spider was used to transfer money from parts of Syria under ISIS control to other regions not controlled by ISIS.
Abderrahmane, Boukich, Bitcoin Xchange, Spider, and Alkaram are being designated pursuant to E.O. 13224, as amended, for having materially assisted, sponsored, or provided financial, material, or technological support for, or goods and services to or in support of, ISIS.

Alexander Justin White sentenced to 8 years in federal prison for conspiring to provide and attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State
A federal judge sentenced Alexander Justin White, 30, to 8 years in federal prison for conspiring to provide and attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS). The Court sentenced White after law enforcement officers arrested him as he attempted to fly to North Africa to join ISIS as terrorist and fight in an ISIS-controlled territory.
White made numerous posts supporting ISIS and jihad between May and October of 2024 including videos used to recruit new members and gin up passion for fighting. He also engaged in fundraising efforts while making several posts and reposts referencing well-known ISIS supporters and enablers. White made, or attempted to make, several financial transactions to support terrorist camps and other similar terrorist campaigns to funnel money to ISIS members and their supporters.
White openly discussed his desire and intention to travel overseas to join ISIS on Facebook and over other encrypted messaging applications. He indicated that he wanted to be a “Mujahid,” which means someone who commits jihad. White expressed a willingness to kill U.S. military members and citizens.
White proactively tried to join ISIS, purchasing a flight to North Africa. In preparation for his new life as a would-be terrorist, White purchased equipment to use overseas. Law enforcement arrested White as he attempted to board his flight with that equipment.
“White planned to abandon his family, betray his country, and fly to Morocco to actively fight with the terrorist group ISIS. Thankfully, the FBI Raleigh-Durham Joint Terrorism Task Force intervened and arrested him at the airport before he could board his flight. It cannot be overstated that ISIS continues to pose a threat to U.S. interests, both domestically and abroad. We must continue to be vigilant to prevent ISIS inspired terrorism” said Reid Davis, the FBI Special Agent in Charge in North Carolina.

DHS blasted a federal court order requiring Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to release Salah Sarsour
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) blasted a federal court order requiring Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to release Salah Sarsour, the president of the Islamic Society of Milwaukee, while his removal case proceeds.
Sarsour, a Palestinian lawful permanent resident who has lived in the United States for more than three decades, was arrested by ICE in March. Federal officials argued that he poses a foreign policy concern. DHS also alleges that he obtained his green card after providing false information during the immigration process.
Sarsour has no criminal record in the US He was convicted by the Israeli Ramallah Military Court in 1989 of throwing a Molotov cocktail and stones at Israeli army forces, and by the same court in 1995 of attempting to hold weapons and ammunition. Sarsour has denied committing those crimes.

Reda Mazen Rida Sabassi, a 38-year-old resident of San Diego, was charged with conspiring to provide material support to Hamas
The Justice Department announced the unsealing of a five-count complaint charging Reda Mazen Rida Sabassi, 38, of San Diego, California, with terrorism, sanctions-evasion, wire fraud, money laundering, and false statement charges in connection with his efforts to divert funds raised through purported charitable campaigns to Hamas and for personal use. Sabassi was arrested in San Diego and presented before U.S. Magistrate Judge Steve B. Chu in the Southern District of California.
As alleged in the complaint, the defendant exploited the barbaric acts of terror perpetrated on October 7, 2023, to attract donors to his fraudulent ‘humanitarian’ causes. He allegedly raised hundreds of thousands of dollars through this scheme, which he then funneled to Hamas to help finance that group’s terror and violence and to line his own pockets.
Since at least in or about 2022, Sabassi has used his social media accounts, crowdfunding websites, and his putative charity called Ikram — The Arab Charity Foundation Inc. (Ikram) to solicit donations from around the world, including from individuals in the United States and New York. In his online fundraising campaigns, Sabassi claimed to be raising funds to provide humanitarian aid to people in Gaza; however, Sabassi was actually raising funds for Hamas. Sabassi and a co-conspirator joked privately that they should name the fundraiser after Hamas’s al-Qassam Brigades, before agreeing to use Sabassi’s Ikram. Sabassi worked with the Hamas fundraising organization Gaza Now and other co-conspirators to operate these online fundraisers and to send funds to Hamas.
Between in or about December 2023 and in or about February 2024, Sabassi raised a total of approximately $600,000 through online fundraising campaigns, from which Sabassi sent approximately $116,000 to a Hamas member and attempted to convert approximately $382,000 of the cash he raised into cryptocurrency to send to Hamas through Gaza Now.

Eight individuals associated with the University of Michigan were indicted for their alleged roles in conspiracies to threaten University of Michigan leaders, law enforcement, and businesses, including the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit.
They are Zainab Aliasgar Hakim (Canton, Michigan) (age 23), Amatullah Aliasgar Hakim (Ann Arbor, Michigan) (age 21), Paige Elizabeth Feyock (Ann Arbor, Michigan) (age 26), Ahmet Kerem Korkaya (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) (age 28), Jonathan Hongru Zou (Ann Arbor, Michigan) (age 22), Alexander Matthew Sepulveda (Chicago, Illinois) (age 23), Mariam Muhammed Odeh (Dearborn, Michigan) (age 24), and Colin Hunter Weger (Ann Arbor, Michigan) (age 24).
After the October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel, the defendants and unindicted conspirators enacted a series of coordinated “actions” threatening University of Michigan leaders, law enforcement, and businesses. Seemingly prompted by their perception of the University of Michigan’s and other victims’ purported financial support of Israel, the conspirators insisted publicly that they “must escalate, mobilize, and organize to demand divestment by any means necessary.”
Among other actions, they damaged and defaced homes and businesses with spray-painted messages, threats, and symbols, including inverted triangles, which Hamas has used in its military videos to mark targets for death; red handprints, which Hamas has used to symbolize the Ramallah Lynching of 2000 and the murder of two Israeli military reservists during the Second Intifada; and phrases such as “INTIFADA” and “DIVEST NOW.”

Former Taliban Commander Haji Najibullah sentenced to 42 years in prison for terrorism charges
Haji Najibullah, a 50-year-old former Taliban commander from Afghanistan, was sentenced to 42 years in prison on terrorism charges. He was convicted based on his role in the kidnapping of an American journalist and two Afghan nationals in Afghanistan and Pakistan between 2008 and 2009, as well as his leadership of Taliban fighters who attacked U.S. servicemembers in Afghanistan between 2007 and 2009. These attacks resulted in the deaths of American soldiers and other victims.
On 25 April 2025, Najibullah pleaded guilty to taking hostages and providing material support for terrorist acts resulting in death. In addition to the prison term, he was sentenced to five years of supervised release.

Mohamed Sagha charged with attempting to provide material support and resources to ISIS
Mohamed Sagha, 22, of Wayne, New Jersey was charged by complaint with one count of attempting to provide material support and resources to ISIS.
From approximately December 2025 to June 2026, Sagha participated in one or more online chat groups wherein ISIS supporters discussed, among other things, potential attacks on targets within the United States, including places of worship. In or around October 2025, he met a confidential human source (“CHS”) online, whom he believed to be a member of ISIS.
In his discussions with the CHS, Sagha expressed an intent to assist one of the members of an ISIS-supporters online chat group with an attack on a place of worship. He also told the CHS he was contemplating carrying out an attack of his own, possibly on a National Guard location or on a Jewish place of worship. He then shared images and/or videos of both locations with the CHS, and stated that they were near his residence in Wayne, New Jersey.
During these conversations, the CHS repeatedly held himself out as an ISIS fighter, sending Sagha messages and photographs that indicated the CHS was in ISIS territory in Syria. These included a photograph of the CHS in the back of a truck holding an ISIS flag, as well as a photograph of the CHS leaning against a vehicle over which the ISIS flag was draped, holding what appeared to be an AK-47-style assault rifle. Sagha, in turn, repeatedly expressed a desire to travel to ISIS territory, and even made an unsuccessful attempt at doing so in early March, 2026.
Between on or about May 31 and June 2, Sagha and the CHS discussed the use of a Virtual Private Network (VPN) for the CHS and other ISIS fighters referred to as “brothers.” VPN technology enables users to conceal their online activities, mask their locations and identities, and communicate with greater anonymity. In the hands of members of a foreign terrorist organization, the technology can assist efforts to evade detection, maintain communications, and further the organization’s activities. Sagha ultimately purchased a VPN, sent it to the CHS — whom he believed to be a member of a terrorist organization — and explained to the CHS how to use the VPN.

Three US citizens were arrested for having discussed violent attacks and tried to develop a cryptocurrency scheme to buy RPGS and drones to attack US servicemembers
Bisaam Ghafoor, 21, of Leawood, Kansas; Elias Shamsaldeen, 21, of Porterville, California; and Bereen Dzayee, 25, of Lakeside, California, were arrested by FBI on a complaint filed in the District of Kansas for conspiring to provide material support to terrorism after collectively providing over $2,000 to an individual they understood to be a member of ISIS.
According to the complaint, these defendants conspired to support ISIS, a ruthless terrorist organization, with the intent, among other things, to fund plans to kill American servicemembers abroad.
According to the complaint, filed in the District of Kansas, beginning by at least February 2025 to about June 2026, the individuals communicated about several plans to support ISIS, including through the provision of personnel, services, and money. Through Discord chats, voice calls, and other messaging platforms, the coconspirators pledged allegiance to ISIS and its leader. The defendants exchanged messages in social media groups promoting violence in furtherance of ISIS.
The defendants collectively provided over $2,000 to an individual they believed to be an ISIS member. Ghafoor’s name was written on the projectile of one of the rocket-propelled grenades purportedly to be used in an attack overseas to kill U.S. servicemembers. Shamsaldeen provided financial resources for the purpose of purchasing drones, which, in turn, were to be used to attack and kill U.S. servicemembers deployed overseas.
The defendants and others communicated their desires to travel outside the United States to fight on behalf of ISIS. In some of these communications, they expressed a willingness to die on behalf of ISIS.

Two New Jersey young men set to plead guilty after plotting ISIS-aligned violence online
Two 19-year-old Montclair residents, Tomas Kaan Jimenez-Guzel and Milo Sedarat, are preparing to plead guilty after allegedly pledging allegiance to ISIS and discussing violent attacks. Sedarat’s lawyers claim he was radicalized by post October 7 social-media algorithms that fed him gory war footage, antisemitic content, and ISIS propaganda, though they argue he never carried out violence or contacted actual ISIS members.
Prosecutors state that Sedarat expressed fantasies about killing Jewish people, attacking a pro-Israel march, and supporting a friend’s travel to Turkey. Jimenez-Guzel, the son of a UN diplomat, was arrested at Newark Airport while allegedly attempting to travel to Syria via Turkey. He had reportedly spoken about beheading “infidels” and becoming notorious enough for a documentary.
Sedarat is expected to plead guilty to concealment of material support to a foreign terrorist organization, with two threat charges to be dropped. He is seeking release to home confinement under strict monitoring, while Jimenez-Guzel is scheduled to enter his plea on 9 July. Both were arrested in November as part of a wider investigation into online extremist networks.

Dual Iranian-Iraqi national - Mohammad Al-Saadi - indicted in US for directing global terror attacks for Hezbollah and the IRGC
Federal prosecutors charged Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawook Al-Saadi, 32, with eight terrorism related offenses for allegedly acting as a senior operative for Kata’ib Hezbollah and Iran’s IRGC, directing nearly 20 attacks, and attempted attacks across Europe and plotting attacks inside the United States. Prosecutors say he worked closely with top IRGC-QF figures and ordered retaliation attacks targeting U.S. civilians and officials after American strikes on militia leaders.
According to the indictment, Al-Saadi helped plan and coordinate 18 European attacks under the false front group Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya, filmed attacks in real time, produced propaganda, and discussed “psychological warfare” with Kata’ib Hezbollah contacts. In March-April 2026, he allegedly attempted to orchestrate attacks in the U.S., including scouting a New York synagogue and asking a U.S. contact to find someone who could “burn” or “kill”. He was detained abroad on 1 May and transferred to FBI custody on 14 May.
Al-Saadi faces charges including material support to FTOs, terrorism financing, attempted terrorism transcending national boundaries, and conspiracy to bomb public places, several of which carry maximum sentences of 20 years to life. Prosecutors emphasize that he served as a key operational link between Hezbollah, the IRGC, and attackers across multiple countries.

US sanctions four individuals linked to pro-Hamas flotilla
The US Treasury sanctioned four individuals linked to pro-Hamas flotilla organized by the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad (PCPA) and the Samidoun network, both described as fronts for Hamas-aligned terrorist organizations. Those designated include senior PCPA officials Saif Hashim Kamel Abukishek, Hisham Abdallah Sulayman Abu Mahfuz, and Samidoun coordinators Mohammed Khatib and Jaldia Abubakra Aueda.
Treasury also targeted Hamas-aligned Muslim Brotherhood structures in Gaza, including the Palestinian Scholars Association led by Marwan Abu Ras, and sanctioned HASM – which is an Egypt-based violent offshoot group connected to the Muslim Brotherhood that is committed to carrying out terrorist attacks against civilians – linked operatives such as Karim Sayed Ahmed Moghny and Muhammad Jamal Hassan al-Najjar for training militants, acquiring weapons, and supporting Hamas operations. Officials said these networks help Hamas expand influence, coordinate ideological goals, and facilitate attacks.
All designated individuals are now subject to full OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) blocking sanctions, prohibiting U.S. persons and financial institutions from engaging with them. Treasury warned that foreign banks facilitating significant transactions with these actors risk secondary sanctions, and emphasized that flotillas tied to designated groups pose major compliance risks despite humanitarian branding.

Senior Hezbollah commander - Mohammad Al-Saadi - charged in US for plotting attacks on American Jews and directing global terror campaign
Federal authorities arrested Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi, 32, an Iraqi national and senior commander in Kata’ib Hezbollah, accusing him of directing attacks on behalf of Iran-backed militias. Prosecutors say he plotted to burn down a New York synagogue and Jewish centers in Los Angeles and Scottsdale, offering an undercover officer $10,000 to strike all three sites at once. He allegedly urged followers to kill Americans and Jews and maintained ties to top IRGC-QF leaders, including Qasem Soleimani.
Investigators say Al Saadi coordinated 18 attacks across Europe in March-April 2026. This included a bombing of the Bank of New York Mellon building in Amsterdam, an attempted bombing in Paris, and an arson attack on a synagogue in North Macedonia. A KH front group he ran, Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiyah, claimed responsibility for these attacks, which also included the stabbing of two jewish men in London. Authorities say the group targeted Jewish sites, banks, and media outlets across Europe.
Al-Saadi was arrested overseas, transferred to U.S. custody, and appeared in Manhattan federal court on May 15. He faces charges including conspiracy to provide material to foreign terrorist organizations, conspiracy to bomb public spaces, and attempted destruction of property with explosives. Officials describe the case as one of the most significant Iran-proxy terrorism prosecutions in recent years, underscoring the global reach of Iran-backed militias and their efforts to strike Jewish communities and U.S. interests.

Missouri man - Jordan Derrick - arrested after New Orleans terrorist used his bomb-making videos
Federal prosecutors arrested Jordan Derrick, 40, of Missouri, accusing him of posting online bomb-making tutorials later used by Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the ISIS-inspired attacker who killed 14 people in New Orleans on New Year’s Day 2025. Investigators say Derrick filmed step-by-step guides showing how to make explosives and detonators.
According to a federal complaint, Jabbar downloaded Derrick’s videos and used them to build the improvised explosive devices he planted around Bourbon Street before driving a truck into crowds. RDX – one of the explosives shown in Derrick’s tutorials – was allegedly found in Jabbar’s vehicle after the attack. The planted devices never detonated, and Jabbar was killed in a shootout with police.
Derrick now faces charges including manufacturing explosives, possessing an unregistered destructive device, and distributing information on making explosives. Prosecutors say his online content directly enabled a deadly terrorist attack carried out in support of ISIS, a group responsible for widespread violence and human rights abuses.

Colorado man sentenced to life plus 2,128 years for deadly firebombing of pro-hostage demonstrators
Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 46, was sentenced in Colorado to life in prison without parole plus more than 2,000 years after pleading guilty to first-degree murder and over 100 additional charges for a 1 June, 2025 firebombing attack on demonstrators supporting Israeli hostages in Gaza. Soliman threw two Molotov cocktails into the crowd on Boulder’s Pearl Street Mall, killing 82 year-old Karen Diamond and injuring more than a dozen others.
Prosecutors said Soliman arrived with 18 Molotov cocktails, disguised himself as a gardener, and shouted “Free Palestine!” during the attack. Victims described lasting trauma, and the Jewish community said the assault left many fearful of attending public events. In court, Soliman apologized but denied anti-Semitic intent, claiming he opposed Zionism; he urged federal prosecutors to seek the death penalty in his separate hate-crime case.
Diamond’s family described her three weeks of suffering before her death, and the Boulder Jewish Community Center said the sentence sends a clear message against hate-fueled violence. ISIS “Beatle” El Shafee Elsheikh denied request to transfer from US supermax to UK prison
El Shafee Elsheikh, 38, a former British citizen and member of the ISIS hostage-taking cell known as “The Beatles,” has been denied his request to leave a US supermax prison and serve his sentence in the UK The US Department of Justice blocked the transfer, and Elsheikh remains under eight life sentences for his role in the kidnapping and murder of Western hostages.
Elsheikh’s group was responsible for the 2014-2015 beheadings of aid workers and journalists, including David Haines, James Foley, Steven Sotloff, and Peter Kassig. Families of victims, including Haines’s daughter Bethany, said it was a “relief” that Elsheikh will not return to Britain, noting he had his U.K. citizenship revoked in 2018.

Aws Mohammed Naser, 38, was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison after a jury convicted him of attempting to provide material support to ISIS and possessing a destructive device. Teen who plotted ISIS-inspired attack on Phoenix Pride sentenced to 1.75 years
Marvin Aneer Jalo was sentenced to 1.75 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of terroristic threats. Peoria teen sentenced for ISIS-inspired plot targeting Phoenix Pride parade

Minneapolis man sentenced to 8.5 years for attempting to join and support ISIS
A federal judge sentenced Abdisatar Ahmed Hassan, 23, to 102 months in prison and 15 years of supervised release for attempting to provide material support to ISIS. Prosecutors said Hassan spent 2024 consuming ISIS propaganda, reposting violent videos, downloading bomb-making manuals, and researching weapons, drone technology, and past ISIS-inspired attacks.

After returning to Minnesota, he continued praising ISIS attacks online, including a 2025 mass-casualty attack in New Orleans. He was arrested in February 2025 with a knife and a homemade ISIS flag in his vehicle. Court upholds life sentence for Times Square bomber but tosses ISIS-support charge

Tennessee man pleads guilty to arson and attempting to support Hezbollah
Reagan Darby Prater, 28, of Tullahoma, Tennessee, pleaded guilty to arson and attempting to provide material support to Hezbollah. Prosecutors say Prater used a napalm-based “sparkler bomb” to destroy a building at the Highlander Center in New Market, causing over $1.2 million in damage. He admitted targeting the center because of his white supremacist ideology and spray painted the Iron Guard symbol at the scene, the same emblem used in the Christchurch terror attacks weeks earlier.
Court documents state Prater drove to the Highlander Center, ignited the device, and destroyed the facility as an act of ideological retaliation against the center’s civil rights focused mission. Separately, Prater admitted in 2019 he attempted to aid Hezbollah by providing a document containing personal information of more than 35,000 individuals allegedly linked to the Israeli government, telling a contact he believed was tied to Hezbollah to “Start the hunt.”
Prater faces up to 20 years in federal prison and will be sentenced 9 September, 2026. The case was investigated by the FBI with assistance from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by the Justice Department’s Civil Rights and National Security Divisions.

Pakistani national pleads guilty to ISIS-inspired plot targeting center in New York
Muhammad Shazeb Khan, also known as “Shazeb Jadoon,” pleaded guilty to attempting to commit acts of terrorism transcending national boundaries for planning a mass shooting at a prominent Jewish center in Brooklyn. Prosecutors state that Khan intended to illegally enter the United States from Canada and carry out the attack on the 7 October anniversary, claiming it could be the largest attack on U.S. soil since 9/11. Officials noted he repeatedly expressed support for ISIS and coordinated his plans with undercover officers.
According to the Justice Department, Khan instructed the undercover officers to obtain AR-style rifles, ammunition, and knives. He also identified specific locations inside the Brooklyn center and stated New York was “perfect to target Jews” due to the large Jewish population. FBI officials stated Khan wanted to “slaughter” victims in support of ISIS before he was intercepted 12 miles from the U.S.-Canada border in September 2024. Two suspects involved in the ISIS-inspired bombing attempt outside NYC Mayor’s residence allegedly wanted to kill 60 people
Federal prosecutors charged 18 year-old Emir Balat and 19 year-old Ibrahim Kayumi with attempting to detonate two explosive devices outside Gracie Mansion during an anti-Islam protest on 7 March. The bombs failed to detonate, and police recovered a third device from their vehicle. Prosecutors say the pair, both U.S. citizens from Pennsylvania, pledged allegiance to ISIS and discussed killing 30 to 60 people, hoping to stage an attack “even larger” than the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.
Investigators found a notebook outlining bomb-banking materials and alternative attack plans, including using a vehicle to strike crowds at festivals or protests. ICE detains Milwaukee mosque president for allegedly hiding past conviction

FBI says Michigan synagogue attacker was inspired by Hezbollah
The attack on a Michigan synagogue earlier this March was a “Hezbollah-inspired act of terrorism”, federal officials have said. The FBI said the accused assailant, Ayman Muhammad Ghazali, “purposely [targeted] the Jewish community and the largest Jewish temple in Michigan” and was “inspired by Hezbollah’s militant ideology”.
Ghazali, a naturalised US citizen from Lebanon, rammed his truck into Temple Israel in West Bloomfield on 12 March. Dozens of children were inside the synagogue at the time. Ghazali died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head during the attack. No others were killed but a security guard was injured and multiple officers were treated for smoke inhalation.
His recovered online activity showed repeated searches for pro-Hezbollah news channels and for queries on large gatherings of Israelis in Michigan, the FBI said in a news conference. His online history over the past months included searches for videos about shootouts and bullets and for “news coverage of an Iranian fatwa for total jihad against the US military”.
In the days before the attack, Ghazali purchased an AR-style rifle along with 10 rifle magazines and about 300 rounds of ammunition. He also bought fireworks, torch lighters and gallons of gasoline. The day before the incident, he started adding photos to a Facebook album he entitled “vengeance”, including with images of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In a video sent just before the attack, Ghazali said in Arabic that he had booby-trapped his car. He then said: “I will forcefully enter and start shooting at them. God willing, I will kill as many of them as I possibly can”. He also exchanged five short phone calls with his ex-wife, who called police and asked then to do a welfare check on him.

A 29-year old man from Long Beach, California, Mark Lorenzo Villanueva, pleaded guilty to attempting to provide material support to ISIS and illegally possessing a homemade explosive device. Authorities say that Villanueva sent over $1,600 to an individual he believed was an ISIS fighter to support weapons and operation, and also discussed conducting attacks in the United States.
A search of his home uncovered a bomb packed with ball bearings and often shrapnel materials. Villanueva had been prohibited from possessing weapons due to a prior felony conviction. He faces up to 20 years in prison on terrorism-related charges, with the current sentencing pending.
