Abdel Kol

Hady Abdelaziz Mahmoud Abdel Kol, born on August 28, 1957, in Kalubia, Egypt, was identified following the arrest of his friend Mohamed Game and the statements of acquaintances. Initially, Kol Abdel denied any involvement regarding the gas cylinder of ammonium nitrate found in his home, asserting that he had merely accompanied Game to an agricultural store but had not made any purchases. Concurrently, explosives experts confirmed that the explosive used in the assembly of the device employed by Game was indeed ammonium nitrate. A cashier and warehouse worker reported having sold three 40 kg bags of ammonium nitrate to two non-EU citizens, later identified as Game and Kol Abdel.
During the interrogation, Kol Abdel claimed to have no knowledge of Game’s plans and stated that he had been friends with Game for approximately five years. He believed that all the materials Game was searching for on the internet were intended for creating a product for printing, such as books. He mentioned that he had lent his son’s apartment, which was unoccupied because his son was in Egypt, to Game for 34 days. Kol Abdel stated that Game had instructed him not to tell anyone that he had the keys to the apartment and not to visit him. Furthermore, he admitted to discarding a third bag of ammonium nitrate at a landfill because he did not know its contents and was frightened. However, environmental operators reported that no bags had been removed from the site.
In his apartment that was lent, law enforcement discovered various chemicals and fertilizers, equipment for the mixing, preparation, and assembly of explosives, a kitchen gas cylinder, masks, nitrates, acetone, concentrated ammonia, among other items.
The Public Prosecutor stated that Kol Abdel is held responsible for the crime of complicity in the manufacturing of explosives, having purchased large quantities of explosive materials and facilitating their transfer to the apartment by providing access to his residence. Additionally, he assisted in transporting the bags to the apartment, disposed of a bag containing ammonium nitrate, and purchased a gas cylinder later used by Game. It was determined that Kol Abdel had consciously and voluntarily participated in the creation of the explosives.
The Public Prosecutor requested a four-year prison sentence for his involvement. Then, he was convicted to 4 years imprisonment.
